Understanding the DPP Editor Layout

The DPP Editor is organized to provide an intuitive and efficient workspace, enabling users to design and customize Digital Product Passports (DPPs) seamlessly. This guide explains the editor’s layout and functionality.


Key Sections of the DPP Editor


Left-Side Tabs

The left panel features four key tabs that help navigate and manage your DPP setup:


  1. Pages:

    • Lists all pages within the current theme or the sections within a page.

    • Allows reordering, adding, removing, or replacing pages.

    • Click on a page name to open it in the preview for editing.

  2. Global Settings

    • Provides customization options for:

      • Color schemes

      • Typography

      • Theme logos

      • Background styles

    • These settings apply across the entire DPP, ensuring consistent branding.
  3. Editor
    • Enables users to:
      • Add or remove components (e.g., text, images, widgets).
      • Rearrange or resize elements within a page.
      • Displays a list of available components that can be dragged and dropped into the page.
  4. Data Library:
    • Centralized repository of reusable content and assets such as,
      • Text blocks
      • Images
      • Icons
      • Custom content fields
    • Helps maintain consistency across DPPs by using predefined content blocks.


Top Toolbar

The top bar provides access to essential tools and actions:

  1. Name Display and Edit

    • Shows the current theme or page name with options to rename it.

  2. Undo/Redo Buttons

    • Undo recent changes or redo previously undone actions to streamline editing.

  3. Version History

    • Access and restore previous versions of your DPP.

    • Navigate through saved states to revert or compare changes.

  4. Preview Button

    • Open a real-time preview of the DPP to visualize changes on:

      • Desktop

      • Tablet

      • Mobile

  5. Save and Publish Buttons

    • Save changes as a draft or make the DPP live by publishing.


Preview Section

  1. Displays a real-time view of the DPP as you make edits.

  2. Offers responsiveness options to toggle between device previews (desktop, tablet, mobile).

  3. Highlights areas as you hover or select components, making it easy to identify and adjust sections.


Right-Side Editor

  1. Houses customization tools for adding and modifying components.

  2. Features:

    • Component Properties Panel: Adjust size, colors, and other styling options.

    • Custom Elements: Drag and drop new elements like images, videos, or charts directly onto the DPP.

    • Style Editor: Modify fonts, spacing, alignment, and other design aspects.


Workflow Tips

  • Start with the themes tab to organize the structure of your DPP.

  • Use the Global Settings tab to establish a unified style.

  • Utilize the Editor tab to fine-tune content on individual pages.

  • Regularly check your design in the Preview to ensure responsiveness and accuracy.

  • Save frequently using the Save button and publish only when you are satisfied with the final design.
